Kathak Gat Nikas By Smt Shobha Kausar

Gat Nikas is Speciality of Lucknow Tradition of Kathak dance. after tiring Tukra and Technical compositions where in Jaipur dancer perform Kavitt, Lucknow perform Gat Nikas in Double speed (Dugun Ki Laya) with Palta dancer comes on the SUM with special MUKHDA i.e. DHAN DHIKIT DHATUNA KAT. and make a pose which dancer further devlops with facial expression and CHAAL - special walk based generally on some animal walk. according to Banno, written by Nawab Wajid Ali Shah 21 types of Gat were popular amoung 360 gats in 16th Centuray. and according to older documents Sangeet Darpan 10 Gat are mentioned which are totaly diffrent from the Gat Mentioned in Banno.
Shobha Kausar is one of the senior kathak dance and founder of Khairagar University of Music. this piece of dance is taken from the indian national channal where she has performed Gat Nikas
