Honda valves need to be adjusted on a regular interval and/or when they begin to make noise. Here is how you do it.

  • This guy should be taking the top part of the timing cover off. There an "up" marking along with 2 lines on opposite sides that you have to follow.

  • Snap-On makes a special tool for this,(can't find it now in my box) a 10mm built in with a captured screwdriver. increase your speed & accuracy 10X. I've done perhaps thousands of these puppies. DON't pry with a screwdriver...this is amauter! if it is that sticky use a piece of plastic.. I've seen so many chow marks on VC rails from pryed VCs! Change your gasket when doing this, a dab of HT Silicone at the "points" of the gasket(Where the gasket arches up over the OHC, the start of the arch)

  • This video is SOOOO WRONG.

First of all is .008 on the intake and .010 on the exhaust.

The main thiing that is wrong is your suppose to rotate the Crankshaft 180 degrees which is a half a turn not a "1/4 of turn" as you mention here. The only thing that is a 1/4 turn is the the camshaft. When you turn the crankshaft 180 degree or a half a turn it rotates the camshaft 90 degrees or a quarter of a turn.

  • i like ur videos. Learn alot. You need to do a DOHC b16 motor video.

  • @redoxon305 Yes, the compression stroke, so all the valves are closed.

  • When you say TDC, does it have to be in a specific stroke?

  • @ga1999 Yes, A good whack with the rubber mallet often works fine too, I've found however sometimes "they" use gobs of RTV & sometimes other, unknown stuff. The temptation is to whack harder & harder, I haven't cracked a VC....so I wind up whacking it somewhat towards the end, trying to impact it at a strong section, at the radius of the edge...not at the flat section square in the middle.

  • @RichardEllisxyz Either that or give the valve cover a good whack with a plastic hammer or rubber mallet.

  • i own a 94 civic dx and this video was very good info

  • I want this video on my t210 phone.

  • Nice video. Thanks

  • Is there a video this detailed but for B16/B18 with DOHC ?
