Twenty years ago, the British legal system finally acknowledged one of the worst miscarriages of justice of modern times. A group of men known as the Birmingham Six were freed after spending 16 years in prison for two murderous bomb attacks which they did not commit. In a special edition of Hardtalk, Stephen Sackur talks to one of the men, Paddy Hill. In the 20 years since he ceased - in his words - to be held hostage by the British state, has he been able to rebuild his life?

  • But you were a criminal?....No i wasnt!!...i had been in prison for stabbing people and slashing people!!!!... You were 100% criminal.

  • @azteca40 It is irrelevant whether he was a criminal or not. It doesnt matter who he was or what his past was. The fact is, he was not guilty of the charges he was convicted for in the video...

The Brits locked these people up for life. For what?

  • real

  • god bless you and keep you safe paddy.a terrible injustice

  • @azteca40 NONE of them were criminals.

They didnt do anything. i have proof.

  • @azteca40 The other 5 out of 6 had no criminal convictions, what is your point? If someone has committed a criminal act then its fair enough to pin a bombing and multiple murders on them? What about the 5 people who were convicted who had no criminal record - when a terible crime occurs we should just pick up a nearby criminal and torture them into confessing - while letting the people who did it get away - is this what you are recommending?
