On Thursday, 24 March 2011, a group of Corps Members from AmeriCorps*National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) and the Missouri Department of Conservation headed to the Spring Creek Gap Conservation Area to do a Prescribed Burn. Dispite a Relative Humidity (RH) that hovered above 70, they lit off the fire. Six miles of fireline and nine hours later, they had the fire encircled and allowed it to burn throughout the night.
All the images seen in this video are from the West side of the fire with Ignition Crew/Holding Crew One. We were in charge of lighting the backfire while the other crew flanked around the East side of the fire and lit off the headfire.
All video was shot with a Flip HD Ultra camera on site by STKerr. Special thanks goes out to Burn Boss, Lee Hughes and all the men of the Missouri Department of Conservation that worked alongside AmeriCorps NCCC shuffle round team, Sun 6.
