  • Hi Wayne, firstly congratulations on such an amazing achievement! I've been dying to ask, how do you make sure the structure of the sections stays straight and is the right shape as you're building it? It's amazing how you've got the shape absolutely spot on and symmetrical.

  • well thank you! I use a tape measure and school ruler. When I build the hull, I create a 20 foot strait line with 20 feet of string. Then I meausre the outside with according to the blue prints. There is much eyeballing as well. i make mistakes here and there. But I know how to cover them so no one will notice. I have other vids here on YouTube with the QM I finished, painted and all. Thanks again.

  • I hate the fact that some people think that any ship with four funles, they think that it is the titianic. that realy bothers me, i don,t know why.

  • They look almost the same from afar

  • I vote Normandie for the next project.

    :)

  • I just did a locatl Chicago Channel 7 news vid with my latest work in progress the SS American Star.. I am had it video taped in HD and having trouble converting it. There are many ships I would love to build. The Normandie is one of them, and the QEI as well.

  • You should make a video of it and post it. We love these. For real. Did the local news do a story on it?

Any other model(s) in the works? I've always liked the Queen Elizabeth (number one), she was the QM's larger younger sister. She held the world record as largest passenger ship, at least in terms of length, till the SS France's debut.

The Normandie is another favorite of mine. Short-lived liner, sadly. :(

  • GundamDH -- it doesn't end there. :P Three-funnel ships get that too.

The Lusitania and Mauretania twins get that a lot. they were shorter than the Olympic trio, faster, the superstructure decks extended a lot further toward the stern. The forecastle (front of the superstructure) had some convecture to it, unlike the Olympic trio's, which was flat and boxy. The Olympic trio also had thinner (and shorter??) funnels.

  • lol!

  • They always do. One ship looks like another to TV people.
