This slideshow is dedicated to our son Connor, who is autistic. We first suspected a problem at 16-18 months, but didn't push for therapuetic intervention until age 2. At 30 months, we enrolled him into a private ABA school, and supplemented with private tutoring and speech. He then entered the local school district's special needs preschool. Connor is now in a private ABA program. He goes to school 5 days a week (5 hours a day). We still supplement with private therapy. We've tried the gluten/caseine-free diet without success. Connor turned 3 in May 2008 and is essentially nonverbal and non-social. Minimal eye-contact. He likes to spin himself and flap his arms. Fortunately, he is a happy, silly little boy. He's our angel. Some angels just need help to fly.

  • he is not an angel! he is a little demon from hell! RETARD!

  • @multisnootylives1 Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt

  • I just wanted to say that out of all the videos on youtube about autism, this one is one of the best. This is amazing. I am a mother of 4 autistic sons- 3 of them are non-verbal and the diet hasn't worked for us yet. We have cried and begged for a cure. But the truth is, we are blessed with 4 children. This is the video I wish I had the time to make. Thank you so much! Good luck to your family!

Thank you. Much has changed in our lives since I made this video. You can trace Connor's progress and my changing perspective on autism through each of the videos I have posted. Some days are still hard, but a day doesn't go by that Connor doesn't make us smile. It always brings us comfort to know that other parents are out there experiencing what we are. That have the same hopes and fears, laughs and tears. Hang in there. Give your little ones a hug. Good luck...

  • Thank you so much for the kind words. So much has changed in our lives since I made this video. It does get easier. The good days outweigh the bad. A day doesn't go by that Connor doesn't make us smile. Some days I'm envious of his single-mindedness or how he can get so much pleasure and joy from the simplest of things. Give Jack and his sister a big hug from the U.S.

  • Thank you. Connor is 5 now and he's a very different boy than when I first made this. Neither he nor our lives will ever be "typical" but a day doesn't go by that Connor doesn't make us smile.

  • @multisnootylives1 Oh yeah? And how are you doing on the angel part? YOU ARE FAILING!!!!!!

Question: How is he a demon? Huh? Have you even met him, retard?

Man, I wouldn't have thought it was possible to hate someone so much, so quickly!

  • Hi, this is a beautiful and very moving video of your family and I sobbed while watching it. We too have 2 very special children, not just one with autism. As Jack's mum I am still coming to terms with his autism and indeed grieving for the boy he will not be and I am so angry with myself for doing so, but your video has helped me remember that he is fab and gorgeous - just like his sister! Hugs and kisses to you all from Scotland xx

  • " He's our angel. Some angels just need help to fly." Love this quote. And love your video. Can sense the incredible amount of love you have for him. All the best to you, him & your family.
