@Standonarock true one belief of unitarian universalists is that any member may draw beliefs or practices from any other religion but you dont have to be restricted to the totalitarian force if you dont want to
basically i can believe in respect honour love and other traits without being restricted to my belief in jesus or buddha or god
its not an all or nothing package

Personally...I like Jesus "ice cream", and ONLY Jesus "ice cream". What an odd comparison. Seems to be a mostly cloudy religion.

ah UU the one religion I keep thinking of joining

i am a pagan looking for a place to practice my religion, and express it without being judged by others. what can i expect from a Unitartian Universalist Church?

@MCG55SS It can't be a real religion if people can't even tell you what it's about. Basically, it sounds like 'you choose whatever you want to believe in, as long as it's tolerant & isn't viewed as a one-way path'. It doesn't make any sense.

@ANGELBLU2042 I wasn't intending my comment to be rude, but it still doesn't seem like a real religion. It's more like going to a cafeteria.

UU is a real religion, but unlike other religions, they do not have a creed. UU is focused on bringing 'heaven to the people' rather than bringing 'people to heaven'. UU brings together aspects from Paganism, Judiasm, Buddism, ect. Followers of UU may be athiest, polytheist, or have no label at all. Historically, UU does have roots in Christianity. UU does not bully you into following their views and they openly accept people of all lifestyles and sexual orientations.

@ghostofxmaspast It's hard for some people to think of it as a "real" religion if it is not the same religions their parents raised them in and what they are accustomed to. Just because it is not what you grew up seeing throughout your community, or because they don't see God as a fairy tale figure in the sky and think of Jesus coming back and levitating them from the ground to go to a fantasy city in the sky doesn't mean it's not real.

I don't see how UU is a real religion though...
@proverbs1722 ... yes and another preacher told me if i still believe in god ill still go to hell, and another said if you try to worship too hard ill go to hell, and another preacher told me god said killing is back yet he'll still forgive you even though its horrilbe acts in everyone's eyes and god said its unforgiviable and god killed out of fury in the bible and told us not to kill, thats what preachers tell me & brainwash me to think, mind fucking me, this is why ima UU, it makes more sense

Christianity teaches me to love, honor, respect, be joyful, be happy, love my neighbor. Sounds like a lot of uus beliefs come from Christianity.
