Here is the extended version of where Steve Jobs talks about Microsoft & their lack on being original. From the year 1996.

sort of, but sort of not, while they did get a little bit of the layout, they completely change the way the task bar works, not at all like macs.

No. Xerox did all the groundbreaking work on GUIs, but didn't see the potential.

As Gates put it:

"...we both had this rich neighbor named Xerox and I broke into his house to steal the TV set and found out that you had already stolen it."

A year later in 1997, as Jobs was plotting to come back to Apple, he was telling the Chairman of the Apple board how Windows had passed up the Macintosh and was now better.

He was right.

Yeah Windows was 3rd rate for a years, and they regressed a few times (ME, vista), but XP, and Win 7 were very solid, and way ahead of the competing Apple OS at their time.

come on guys..... you're pointing out the iphone and macs being updated and resold but you need to realize how old this video is. this was before tablets, iphones, etc. i took a computer class in HS and we actually watched this whole video!

what he means is that in terms of a personal computer, windows copied the layout that apple created then added a couple of fancy things including word and excel

i'm a windows user for life and laugh at people who use apple products but be realistic here....
