Top 20 Anime: 5 through 1

This is the top 5 of my top 20 favorite anime and manga. These are personal favorites rather than what's considered most critically acclaimed or significant in the industry. Remember, this list is all about my own interests and perhaps even guilty pleasures.

I guess you prefer older anime. Well old isn't always the best :) Try these: Time of Eve, Darker Than Black, Girl who Leapt Trough Time, Summer Wars, Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, Claymore, Haibane Renmei, Kurau Phantom memory, Wolfs Rain, Code Geas, Devil may Cry, Birdy the mighty decode, ... I'm sure that at least one of these will find it's place in your top 20 if not top 10 :)

@McGravier I've seen a few of these:

Spirited Away - Really pretty film but it failed to blow me away even though I liked it.

Claymore - Was very good even though the anime ending disappointed me.

Haibane Renmei - Very good series. Maybe if I extended past 20 this would find a spot.

Code Geass - Very good though there are some parts that I found a little dull.

Devil May Cry - Novelty for a couple episodes, pretty bad by the end.

A lot of my favorites are newer like One Piece or One Outs.

Dude, I really want to check out some of these..

BUT

I was extremely shocked when Fist of the North Star did not make it in the top five!

I remember u mentioning it as the "great" FOTNS in ur madworld review.

So whats up with that?

I guess it is just personal taste as u said, but it seems too legendary to leave out.

On a side note, look forward to a review of Skyward Sword.

ALSO, check out claymore, its a really cool anime.

you should do another list of anime but different styles i just finished watching Elfen Lied and i was blow away but almost turned it off when they were killing the dog (i love dogs) the sounds hit home because ive seen a dog in that much pain and making that noise so i found it hard to watch .ANYway so dose any one know some good anime like that and thanks you helpd me find some good ones

When I saw One Piece I thought typical, when I saw Eva I thought yuck, but then you played Hunter X Hunter and props for that one! It is a Shonen title that deserves more attention I think. And then of course Berserk! The ending of the anime completely kills it with its lack of actually ending, but then you go back and watch episode 1 again and it's like "DAMN! I need to read the manga right now!"

I haven't seen Gantz.

Evas aren't robots... Organic beings with armor put on to control them and some mechanical parts for the same reason... Cyborg... i'll buy that... robot... not one bit

You gave me a few suggestions that I will surely watch soon. The only thing that I do not understand, is why Code Geass (R1 and especially R2) isn't there?

good list: I liked that you summarized the animes: whatever anime number 4 was I hear iis somewhat like Eureka 7 which I highly recommend if you haven't seen it. I cried alot, but hey I'm a chick, it wasn't as dark as some of the things on your list but is very beautiful, still like your list!

Gantz is also my favorite, exposing human nature and such, its a shame the anime didnt follow the manga all the way through.
