people with retarded comments like "why?" and "drugs...", he did this because there were several massive bands playing that night, i think it was either the who or the rolling stones... anyway they were planning on trying to one up eachother that night in terms of showmanship, but jimi got to go first. so this was a preemptive strike if you will. also, he was pretty into the music, and on acid.
