The Peoples Postcode Lottery today celebrated its 100th draw, giving EH9 1 Marchmont players a share of £30,000 and a a brand new MINI ONE!
The celebrations were given an added sparkle of glamour as television presenter and CHILDREN 1ST ambassador Kaye Adams headed up the proceedings in a surprise party thrown for the occasion at the charitys headquarters.
MINI winner Carolyn Byrne was shocked to discover the spectacle was all in her honour, telling Street Prize Presenter Angus Purden: Youre kidding! I cant believe it! This is really mine?
Carolyn recently moved to Glasgow and said she regretted selling her old car: I live in the south of the city, so my new MINI will be handy for lugging back Christmas shopping and visiting my relatives in Stonehaven. Plus a cars ideal for all those typically Scottish torrential downpours!
The day marked both the Postcode Lotterys 100th draw and the eve of CHILDREN 1STs Kilts for Kids day, a fundraising event which encourages Scots to celebrate all things Scottish and raise money for the countrys most vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
Accepting a cheque on behalf of CHILDREN 1ST, Kaye said: Congratulations to the Peoples Postcode Lottery on its 100th draw.
As ambassador for CHILDREN 1ST, Ive seen firsthand the real impact that funding from the Peoples Postcode Lottery makes. Our partnership has gone from strength to strength and Im delighted to announce that CHILDREN 1ST have received over £800,000 in unrestricted funding to date.
She added her gratitude to players like Carolyn: Its all down to the players- thank you. Together we really do make the difference.
An anonymous Marchmont Crescent resident also found herself the happy recipient of the full £25,000 Street Prize, while 64 further winning tickets in the area shared the £5,000 Sector Prize.
CHILDREN 1ST is one of five charity partners supported by the Peoples Postcode Lottery in Scotland, who have received a total of £3.7 million in funding to date. 40p from every ticket goes directly to local charities and can be purchased at participating stores.
