It's funny how we discover new things in swimming. Sometimes, when you're looking at one thing, you discover something else. Just goes to show that we should always keep an open mind on EVERYTHING in swimming.

  • I'm 13 turning 14, and i swim the butterfly as my secondary stroke, I practice it as hard as i can, but i just feel something is wrong, when i come out for my stroke my upper body is elevated very high, and my back feels like its going too snap. Also it feels like my lower body is completely sunk when i do my big kick. im not very sure what im doing wrong :l.

  • @MrTrixshot Very tough to diagnos troubles via text... but try to really limit your kick... even swimming lengths without a kick to see if that smooths things out. If it does, then start adding it back in. Sometimes what you're explaining occurs from the set up of the kick creating resistance. Just a thought.

  • Im an age-group swimmer and i feel if i use this technique in my butterfly I will be disqualified for breaststroke kick is it possible?

  • Many swimmers do this automatically. Don't turn your toes out, and you'll be fine. This is a slight separation of the legs, not a big split like in breaststroke kick. Practice, then always ask your coach before trying anything in a meet, to make sure you're doing it correctly.

  • con you use the outsisde-in stroke for breast stroke

  • Not really, since the feet don't turn out, it would be an illegal breaststroke kick.
