thank you for this. I remember this very well. Like probably quite a few people, I've appreciated (if not enjoyed) struggling with Beckett - at school, as a troubled 20-something, lost interest in my 30s, remembered it in my 40s - and now that I'm nearly 50 it all makes so much more sense.... Patrick Magee and Jack Magowran (Eh Joe) both capture something very individual. If the BBC had any sense (I should stop right now....) Billie Whitelaw's Happy Days would be on BBC4 next weekend. Oh well.

Magee in all honesty may have been the best actor ever from the British Isles. He had a talent and a presence unequalled by any actor I have yet seen.

Thank you! Never saw the original actor perform the piece. Was awestruck by the sense of unutterable loss in the Pinter version as an undergrad, though I had read Godot at 17. This version of Krapp is incomparable. Thank you again for posting this gem.

Patrick Magee died far too soon. Great actor. I only regret not finding out about him until long after he died. :(
