Just terrible...terrible

CAFOs are hideous. my heart goes out to all animals...except those damn boas who are killing the poor defenseless elderly in south florida. and the gators who are doing the same. and pretty much all politicians.

Paradise turned to Crap.

Construction will start on jersey valley dam this week with a cost estimate less than the previously mentioned price. We also need to remember that it is a flood control structure first and a recreational water body second. It was one of the best bass fishing lakes in the area.
-
The cost estimate is up to 2.7 mil now to do repairs to this dam.

Vernon county already has a CAFO's!
My favoret benefits are :
With a digester Westby could be off the grid! A digester will also keep the smell in check. It could be possible to put other farms waste, creamry waste, sawmill waste into the digester not on Vernon County country side.
Jersey Valley park was never closed. The lake is drained but the park is still open for hiking. The only reason the gate was shut is they don't plow that road down to the parking lot.
Jersey Valley Lake will be restored!
The cost to repair this dam is just under 2 mil. . To repair all the dams in Vervov county is more around 10 mil. But even still the county is having a hard time coming up with that.

There's no point in restoring Jersey Valley until we address the issue of manure runoff from any farm, or it's only going to happen again.
That's why we're calling for a moratorium to give the county some time to develop a plan without having to continually address the problems of a potential new CAFO.

Hey, no offense, lizardrib, but I happened to notice the response you put on before you took it off- the one saying that "a CAFO would be the best thing that ever happened to Vernon County".
Let's see...strong, putrid odors, increased repiratory and nervous system disease, reduced property value, increased truck traffic, swarms of flies, loss of tourism and business... What's YOUR favorite "benefit"?!?
FYI- CAFO's hire almost zero, and DON'T usually buy locally due to cost.

I am for responsible farming no matter what the size of the farm.
How can we okay pollution if it's caused by a small family farm, but not a CAFO? To the family with the contaminated well, and the lake that is destroyed by manure runoff, the size of the farm makes no difference.
Jersey Valley Lake is gone, with a price of upward 20 mil to get it back, and there's not a CAFO in sight. We need to get out own act together before we even consider having a new CAFO in Vernon county.
