涡扇8发动机(代号915)是运10飞机的动力装置,属前风扇、短外函、轴流式双转子涡轮风扇发动机。起飞推力80.07千牛,起飞耗油率54.56公斤/千牛·小时,其­性能、寿命等指标在60年代末尚属较先进的航空发动机。该发动机于1972年开始投料试制,至1980年底国家投资1.84亿元,共生产3轮计12台发动机。在研制中,新­建主机厂,改建叶片生产厂,形成有3000余人的航空发动机研制队伍,基本走完发动机研制工作的全过程。1983年6月,上海市航空工业办公室召开涡扇8发动机研制成果总­结交流会,认为已基本具备设计定型的条件和小批量生产的能力。后因运10飞机停止研制,发动机研制也告一段落。在研制过程中,市内外有60多个单位承担发动机本体和配套协­作项目,并大量采用新技术、新工艺、新材料。成品附件、轴承、金属材料、非金属材料和毛坯均立足于国内,取得了丰硕的科研成果。

  • China hasn't had much luck making turbofans. This one was cancelled before it went anywhere.
