she is sooo good looking

The audio sounds sped up. Sort of Chipmunk-y. Emphasizes the affectation in her pronunciation at this stage of her career (I'll pass out buddons..., Budeeful Peepole...)

BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! Melanie... was a troubador of LOVE and PEACE! And she still is.

Sheer genius and perfection. I still have her tapes from '69.

LOL Melanie was my first celebrity crush when I was a kid, lol.

When I first heard Melanie sing beautiful people, I wondered how it was that she held back those tears. I don't have the technical terms to describe what she is doing with her voice, but this I can say - she is real, she sings with her heart, expressing and empathising with the pain inflicted on the needy, after repeated attempts to call out with grief, tough and stern, but eventually gives way once again to the soft touch that beautiful people (that's us) so desperately need.

melanie the great one and only!

While Melanie does not "blow Joan Baez away", she is hugely talented in her own right, and I've never understood the Baez comparisons. Other than both singing folkish songs to their own guitar accompaniment, Melanie and Baez sound nothing alike. Baez' voice was more "classically" beautiful, while Melanie's vocals were expressive and vibrato-driven. Both very moving, but in different ways. If I had to compare Melanie with someone, it would be Buffy Sainte Marie, and even then, VERY different.
