frankly you wouldnt have this problem is your characters were referenced deeper than the anime and manga ect that inspired you. topical references almost always seem to produce topical characters. DEEPEN YOUR WELL OF INFLUENCES WITHOUT CARE OF GENRE,MEDIAN,OR LOCATION out the gate you need to infuse "unlike factor" this i means your manga must "take ownership" of your influences that what separates you from the masses. taking ownership is what those people you mentioned have done.

I think people are just talking trash cuz they don't have the ability to create a character as you do.
Oh and u know what would be a kick in the ass (the good way. If theres is a good way...? -.-) putting 2 of your main characters from different manga's,into one. Like...they did with those Kid cartoons Jimmy neutron and...idk I forgot but the other kid was timmy turner. Just a thot. May sound dumb,but it's something. Hahaha

Even if your characters resembles others it is not only the outer look which has value. The characters' personality, the way you are composing your mangapage, your storyline, your way of portraying emotions etc. are all things that can make you stand out from all other artists. I hope you will take advantage of these elements to really emphasize to the reader that this is YOUR manga - this is YOUR style. Good luck! :)

I have to admit that I could also draw some parallels between your characters and other artist's characters, but this I think is only normal. We always get inspired by other's art - that is not the important thing. The important thing is how you twist that art and make it unique. The important thing is that when we have your mange in our hands, we will be able to say that this is WhytMangas art. Of what I have seen until now you have definitely stood out with a new and fresh manga style.
