Hundreds of thousands of people includingsome from other countries came to the storm hit area.Thousands were unpaid volunteers. Many were helping gut these mold and mildew ridden houses. The smell of this mold, rotting food, and decay was horrendous. Many were sleeping on make shift pallets or in sleeping bags. they didn't know if food or water was available. Some brought their own. This was done out of love and concern for the people of the area.
God bless them all for actions above and beyond.

This is awesome. I went as a nurse with the Red Cross after Katrina. Slept in a janitor's closet, took in 800 people in a shelter in one night, with a myriad of health issues. Fun, sad, exhausting and the best experience (until my son's adoption) of my life.

I am still a nursing student about to graduate. I think the oath that all nurses take in nursing school should include that nurses will help anyone anywhere at anytime. Thank you and God bless!
