KarigaMombe is the first piece from the Shona repertoire that every Mbira musician must learn. Here is a version that I was taught by Manasa who taught at the Zimbabwe College of Music in 2002. Here it is played on a Newton Gwara Mbira dzaVadzimu.

Love all your videos and playing! Q. I learned the "1st phrase" from a different point. How much do you think that matters, when teaching or playing with others, or passing it on as "correct/traditional, etc..? I know the listening aspect does a nice pivot to my brain:)
Good question...it doesnt matter. it is good to learn a piece from different points, its all a circle you know? so, jump in where you like! Sarai zvakanaka!
Where can I purchase a mbira? I live in Los Angeles and know of a place that sells them but don't know quality. Also, so fantastic that you are teaching via YouTube! Are there any teachers in Los Angeles?
Excellent! Thanks for breaking it down for us -- learning and improvising on any instrument is so much easier when the underlying theories and systems are made so clear.
