Here, at St. Stephens Anglican Church in Tema, Ghana, it is at the most sacred part of the mass. The elements (bread and wine) are "transfigured" through this ancient Christian ritual process developed in the early church in Jerusalem, soon after the death of Jesus Christ. Here, according to ancient beliefs, the bread and wine "become" the body and blood of Christ.
The chanting by the priests is accompanied by incense and the ringing of altar bells as all te senses are involved in our perception of this most precious event.
