  • @thomaz89 I owe you an apology! With the advantage of being a native German speaker you hear the subtle differences I probably missed. I enjoy this performance, but I'm sure there are others very much worth hearing. I love this music and played it while at university. It sticks with one.

  • @MichaelTrumpetPlayer I'm not not referring to the text - I'm referring to the way the Tölzer Knabenchor sing.... they sound more grumpy in the beginning than joyful.

But, of course, I do understand the text - I am German. ;-)

  • @thomaz89 Do you understand the text? This is extremely joyful music by the greatest Baroque master.

  • @CharlieRutan They sound just right to me. This IS a period instrument performance. No need for those huge copper tymps from a modern orchestra here.

  • @gkollias14 It's called "lip synching" ;-P

Btw: Nice chest voice growling at 1:00 LOL - but rejoicing? Sounds pretty angry to me. ;-)

  • Excellent, except for the timps...something about these particular set of period timps just dosent "fit"... :/

  • Rickeyleeba: first of all it is: Lipsinging or playback secondly you have no clue whats so ever about "classical" music if you believe they are lip singing.

1: they are true musicians for the sake of music

2: this performance is begore the 1980s

    3: there are no speakers

4: Why would they learn the lyrics

5: this is a formal concert with a great, honest musician and conductor...

    Think...

  • A really fine performance. Just a pity that the sound and the video image are not synchronous.

  • Something tells me the boys are lipsync-ing. Great song anyway

  • Beautiful music played in a beautiful church. The Christmas spirit is there.
