@bramcodoss1Pinguin You do not charge the carkit. It is powered by your car battery. You have to connect it into the power socket in your Nissan Micra 3.2 GTI v12 .

If you found yourself lost in the wood, make sure you have no honey or any other tasy food that bears would be attracted to the sound of your TomTom. I would strongly suggest to call the emergency services if you got lost in the woods. How would you manage to drive your car into the woods if using a sat nav app

You can use the car kit when its not charging. But you need the USB connected to have use of the built in speaker on the carkit. The Carkit has no on/off button. If you decide not to use the Charging cable then it will work as a holder only and you will have to use the built in speakers on your device.
