You told this is an old Envrude tail? What was the power of the original two stroke engine? What is the model, weight and lenght of this boat ? Fiberglass or aluminum?
Greetings from Brazil.

yes, This is an old evenrude tail with forward and reverse. get rid of the damn two stroke and build an 8 hp briggs on it, next month i am going to replace it by an 14hp vanguard V2. The 8 hp does it good but he has no reserve left, so it is going to be better fore the engine if it is a 14hp.
So, to be continued.
The first try was an 4hp lawn mower engine, but he could not handle the power.

I just turned a 4hp johnson into a 6.5hp Briggs, Now I'm like you I'm going for a 13hp on an old 7.5hp outboard lower unit. How's yours coming, been 3 months.

does the briggs and stratton idle slow enough to use the forward ,neutral and reverse?

yes, it works perfectly, only on full trottle the engine has no power left, maby i replace it by a 14 hp vanguard v twin so i have a little extra power left.

No, its an extra steel flywheel i use to connect the drive shaft of the engine to the axle of the propeller
