  • Unless I'm mistaken, Julie Budd is not related to Barbra at all. She credits Streisand as an influence, and is constantly compared to her despite their differences. I am sure it has been a challenge throughout the years to forge her own brand as an artist. Everyone still thinks they are sisters. But, I think Barbra Streisand's baby sister is another singer named Roz Kind.

  • Having seen her in concert I can say she is an extraordinary artist. I can see the resemblances to Streisand, but really she is a totally different singer. She certainly knows how win over an audience and in her presence there is the sense of witnessing a truly great talent. Backstage she is gracious. She is a very classy lady.

  • @web45 LOL, she's so much younger she would have played Babs' daughter.

  • @jimirsaysbuddy If I remember right, Julie was Barabra's under study back in the 60's or was it Lanie? She had to know Barbara's songs and I guess on call if anything ever happened to Barbara?

  • Funny, Streisand had no trouble bridging that gap she talks about.

  • Julie issued 2 LP's in the sixties on MGM, CHILD OF PLENTY & WILD AND WONDERFUL ME. She did an LP in the early seventies for RCA called JULIE BUDD. Since then she's recorded singles for the Tom Cat and A&M labels, an off-broadway cast LP called IN GAY COMPANY and 3 newer, lush CD's of ballads: PURE IMAGINATION, IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW & NEW CLASSICS.

  • omg, she was singing defying gravity in the beginning?? Weird how things keep on connecting me back to wicked..Ive been obsessed with kristin chenoweth, and just decided to watch julie..then it relates back to wicked..weird

  • She was awesome on the Walt Disney movie: The Devil and Max Develin! Wow! What a very powerful voice!

  • I could never figure out why this wonderful voice didn't take the world by storm. I think that the people who compared her to Steisand did her a great disservice and set a tone that made folks think of her as a Barbra knockoff and not a stand-alone talent. That being said, I would love to see a Julie and Barbra special on TV. Is anyone paying attention out there....hello?.....Babs?... Just do it!!! NOW!!!
