Sydney to Lithgow in 17 minutes by train - cabride

10x speed video of the trip from Sydney Terminal to Lithgow, through Sydney's West to the Blue Mountains. Stations stopped at are Strathfield, Parramatta, Westmead, Blacktown, Penrith then all stations to Lithgow (except Zig Zag).

***UPDATED**** With annotations giving station names stopped at, and some info about distance and altitude at Sydney, Penrith, Springwood, Katoomba, Bell and Lithgow.

The trip is 155km and takes just under 3 hours. It's a spirited run until Emu Plains (6:15), where we enter the foothills of the Blue Mountains and begin to climb The track has a lot of curves, and From Valley Heights (8:27) to Katoomba (12:40) the climb is very steep, up to 1 in 33.

The Ten Tunnels are visible from 16:18. The Zig Zag Railway, from 18:48.

That was great - brilliant HD video all the way. (my son lives at Medlow so we know that line well - enjoyed seeing it from the cab). Keep them coming - your Newcastle one would be great in the daytime and I haven't been to Kiama by train. Great work - thanks again. TD ( my family tell me I should have been a train driver - lol). The name of the station between Bell and Zig Zag is Newnes Junction - Distance from Sydney 141.75km - Newnes Junction was the train station where the Wolgan Valley Railway branch off the main western line. Did you know it is possible for the Lithgow train to terminate at Bowenfels Railway Station - Bowenfels Railway Station is the next station past Lithgow going toward Bathurst - Bowenfels Railway Station - Distance 158.2km or 98.3miles from Sydney Terminal
