On February 6, 2008, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's "the fifth estate" broadcast a one-hour documentary on the Chris Benoit double murder/suicide and the issue of the health and safety of pro wrestlers. The piece, entitled "A Fight to the Death," was reported and narrated by CBC's Bob McKeown, and author Irvin Muchnick was among those interviewed. Muchnick's book CHRIS & NANCY: The True Story of the Benoit Murder-Suicide and Pro Wrestling's Cocktail of Death, will be published in Fall 2009. the biggest reason why people still say the old "wrestling is fake", is becase back in the days, the wrestling business tried to hide the fact that it was "fake". These days they are open about it and there are still people saying it's fake,...no shit! lol they themselves are saying it's predetermined. the only time they dont break character is in the ring, and i mean you never see christian bale removing his batman mask in the middle of the movie saying this is all fake, so why should they?

Wrestling is live- every time they fall and hit the ground- it's real. Every time they take a chair to the head (which WWE doesn't even do anymore)- it's real. Many punches and kicks connect, too. How else would these guys break bones, tear muscles, and get concussed as often or more than pro athletes (there is no "off-season" after all)? And in many instances they keep performing- and then many drop dead short of 50. That's about as real as it gets. 'Fake' is not at all appropriate.
