Baby chicks come out of the nest...

the babies come out of the nest for some food and a walk around...

*Update on their story*

Earlier this year, when the chickens were a little older it flooded here. We have a feed-shed on a platform, and there's a space just big enough for a small animal to crawl into between the platform and the floor of the feed shed. when the water started to rise, some of the chickens went under there to get out of the rain. unfortunately, the water rose half a metre above the floor of the feed shed.
We found them the morning after. 13 of them had drowned under there. 8 of them were from this lot, including the mother, three from the other lot of babies, and two older hens. :(
it was very sad, especially because my little sister found them, and they were her pets. :( they all had names. The mother (angel wings) was her favourite, because she was an orphan herself.
thankfully though, 10 of the babies are still alive and doing well. Two of them have grown into beautiful roosters that get along!
Soon they will be having new little baby chicks!! =]

"the morning after" so you didnt check on a locked animal in a cage to see if it was in danger or not? yeah most pets die to negligence , you're one of the people that shouldn't own pets

@Jackalofdeath Actually, they were roaming free in our yard. There was quite a bit on our minds with the threat of the rising water and some of the others had found their way to higher ground. We'd assumed the rest has also done so. Unfortunately, they hadn't. I realise this wasn't clarified in the above description (I wrote it when I was 15), however one should never assume. =]
