Bascule is just a style of drawbridge. It's even referred to at the Chicago Style of bridge.

They do, but they must not have had to raise both sides for the boat to clear. They are called bascule bridges too, not draw dridges.

I thought that the draw bridges in Chicago have two sides that go up/down.
