Baten Kaitos Origins Speedrun - Segment 34

The 34th segment for my speedrun of Baten Kaitos Origins.

Wow this segment was hard...easily the hardest short segment (sub 5 minutes), and the hardest since Cloud Passage. I definitely spent over 20 hours on this one.

First off, in the menu screens, I had to do three "slide stops", which are hard even individually. Along with that, I had to discard and shift around a lot of magnus, much more than usual.

Pherkad and the dialogue went well, nothing out of the ordinary.

The fight was good, though not the best. 0:43 was actually the highest time I would accept for this fight, my best being 0:37. However, 0:43 is still a very respectable time, beating around 90% of attempts.

What was good about this 0:43 though, is that it made me think to myself that I'd need a slightly above average mansion section, not just completion, to keep the run. I went far beyond that. I took almost every risk I could take, including some extremely dangerous ones like the one in the hallway before I go to the billowsmoke transfer room. The first enemy skip also went very fast. Finally, I was a lot more daring with my heartwings, letting them go into orange many times, cutting off precious seconds and looking awesome.

In conclusion, my Mansion section was phenomenol, far better then I would have ever hoped for. I did many risky timesavers, had everything fairly well optomized, and made no mistakes, not even one doubletalk. Any worry about accepting a 0:43 was thrown far out the window, as I probably saved over 6 seconds due to such a great mansion alone.

it's good to see that your taking extra care in perfecting your run. it would be a shame to make a run only for it to get surpassed two months later.
