The big thing in Dafur is gum arabic. Every time you buy coke, snapple, altoids, and a number of other products, you may be helping the government in Khartoum. They make more money on gum arabic than on anything else.

Well aren't we all supporting human rights abuses... buying technology (uses metals from DR Congo), chocolate (slave labor in Cote d'Ivoire), oil (from Equatorial Guinea, Angola very corrupt governments),... Just got my notice for proxy materials. Fidelity Investments shareholder meeting is tomorrow. Fidelity wants to invest in companies that "substantially contribute to genocide or crimes against humanity."

I sold all my investments in Fidelity.
