Located in Stephen C. Foster State Park, Okefenokee Swamp is one of the most intriguing areas in Georgia. Perhaps the most famous inhabitant of the Okefenokee Swamp is the American Alligator. Officials estimate that 12,000 of the country's largest reptile live within the 402,000-acre refuge. To safely view these creatures, visitors should admire them from a distance and keep hands and feet inside boats.

Explore the Okefenokee Swamp during every season of the year. This vast and mysterious wilderness in southeast Georgia is one of the largest wetlands in North America.

  • The Okefenokee is one of the most amazing places I've been to. To be able to see so many wild animals in quiet solitude was unforgettable
