@quickcap I've always said if somebody is really intent on killing themselves or drinking away their issues...the last thing they're going to do is call somebody up to try and talk them out of it. Change comes from within...these people know what they have to do to fix their problems and they're not going to accomplish much just talking about it or looking for sympathy. Counseling is a joke. You need to lighten up, this was hilarious.

Good for giggles, but not really funny. The AA person is a volunteer who has given her time freely to actually help people who really do need help. Most callers are sincerely desperate, like a suicide hotline. If you want to make prank calls, phone a pizza shop

You have a point, but I think you might be overstating it a little. There's a difference between someone calling a suicide line so they won't kill themselves and someone calling because they're craving a drink. I used to drink way too much when I was younger, and some would say I was an alcoholic. But being Irish, I also know that humor is a very therapeutic tool. It may be insensitive to joke about such things, but there's a line for who we'll prank, and I don't think this call crosses it.
