the voltage up and down when you start it is your grid heater. just so you know i looked it up to because mine does the same thing. thats normal

that radar detector might be it cuz my dad had an old truck phone in one of his trucks and we didnt know it but it was always slowly killing the battery got it took out and havent had a problem since

oh there i so much you could check, good batteries? ground? maybe you got a dud for an alternator, maybe the amp controller is bad, but if you arent getting any warning lights then i have no idea

@kuhndog52 thanks. its for sale now. Runs great. new battery (should have 2 but one will work fine too.) seems to have fixed the problem.
new pinion bearing this weeking im thinking!

your battery charger looks like its for one of those kids power wheels lol, try a bigger charger

@7886bluegrass haha thats just a trickle charger, i was not in a hurry. i had to leave the block heater for a few hours anyways

@cumminsdiesellover01 why would it be intermittant. i believe the starter can safely be eliminated, as it works in colder weather without problems. i can clearly see the lights are dimmer then usual when it doen't start. it could be a bad battery. could also be my radar detector killing the battery over long sits... (it was over15 hours)
