In 1982, while working at Universal studios as a publicity and marketing specialist in the horror and science fiction genre, Mick Garris produced and hosted this 26 minute roundtable discussion between David Cronenberg, John Carpenter and John Landis. All three were working on projects at Universal at the time and this piece was originally created for Universal promotional purposes.

  • They....man...they do NOT make horror movies like these guys did anymore. The genre is pretty much dead now.i mean dead creatively.

  • John Carpenter. We need more guys like him working in horror these days. Not these hacks like Eli Roth and shit. Was this is a series, or just a one-off special of some kind?

  • @CH3Jason

    He's better than most.

  • I would die if the host would have asked Cronenberg

"So this new movie of yours, Videodrome? Its not gonna be wierd or anything, is it?"

  • @SidNightWalker

No he's not. He fucking sucks.

  • John Carpenter's a very funny guy. It's a shame The Thing bombed when it came out. If he had been given more opportunities in Hollywood, I think he would've created some really fine, effective films. Maybe even have graced us with another masterpiece like Halloween or The Thing. But it all went downhill after that. He just kept making the same style of film until eventually his creative powers were totally sapped. He's a legend, but he could have be even more.

  • @SatenzaofRT that's the funniest thing i've heard in a while.

  • @MikeAM78 Eli Roth isn't too bad.

  • Landis STILL wears the same glasses! Or the same style anyway. LOL It seems like he has a paralysis or something on the right side of his face. He had it here and I've also noticed it in recent interviews...

  • This is like the holy trinity of when horror films were actually worth watching.

  • an american werewolf in london is one of the greatest horrors ever.

  • Why was sexuality considered evil during the Reagan era?
