  • Actually the Philippines were a part of the US at the time- American soil. You can see traces of this on historical plaques around the Philippines, for example the one at the front entrance of UST's main building, stating that UST is the oldest educational institution in the US and dated around 1938 or so. Your description of the Philippines as an "ally" should be amended.
