What are you lot on about? Volkswagon have been putting automated manuals, called DSG for dual shaft Gearbox, behind their diesels for the last 10 years in Australia, drives like an auto but it's not. As for the Subaru diesel, I've driven one, nice but, no torque under about 2300 RPM where the turbo cuts in, then in the 6 speed manual your trying to find the next gear, as for the gear indicator display useless, it doesn't show which gear your in until the clutch is out, to late, wrong gear stall
