I remember this race well, the summer of '76 a protracted heat-wave hung over the British Isles for months on end. There was water shortage and a hayfever attack knocked the stuffing out of me, so had to stay in and watched the Montreal Olympics instead. I backed Bruni and Lester to win but they had other ideas, not only did I lose my investment, also my job went to someone else. By the Autumn the heat had relented enough for me to head up north to look for jobs in the Oilfields of Scotland.

not sure Bruni was really top-class 12f. Pawneese was really on top of her game at the time, and never quite reproduced it afterward. However, (for what it's worth) this was the race that converted me to racing (after rather oddly staring at it on Grandstand and the ITV7 for a few years; pity we don't have the O'Sullevan commentary, because he seemed convinced that Malacate was going to win on the near side! But it was just the most dizzying, exciting finish you could imagine.

anyone have anything with tingle creek or make a stand (amazing front runner)

was Lester unlucky on Bruni? losing an iron at the start put them right out of contention early on and they were overhauling everything in the straight

Not as big a fan of Sea Pigeon as you are but an admirer all the same. Will post what I have but probably nothing that you haven't seen already.
