I have to admit, I love the sound dynamics from the roof of the suites. A little bit of it comes through the vid.

NHRA Top Fuel drivers Doug Kalitta (Mac Tools) v. Hot Rod Fuller (Caterpillar) around mid- to late-afternoon on Saturday January 28 2008. Kalitta takes it with a 4.54 @ 274.33 over Fuller's 4.66 @ 261.12. Includes start, burnout and drag.

Be sure to check out my videos from the 2008 CSK NHRA Nationals at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona.

*** 6/30/08 UPDATE: A lot of people continue to ask how I shot this because the sound is so cool. I used a Fujifilm FinePix S9000 DSLR camera, no attachments/upgrades or enhancements to the sound whatsoever. Just using the on-board microphone as shipped, and did not do any baffling or other method of sound manipulation. Also did no editing to the video whatsoever. Just a lucky catch I guess!

  • there is nothing like two funny cars or top fuel dragsters leaving the line

  • You have NOT experienced raw untaimed sound at that level until you have been there. It can NOT be put into words. I have been to see top fuel cars many times and every run is a good as the first time.

  • wow the two guys in the pit working the tires are badass

  • Nothing like Nitro Cars !

  • it's fun until you go back to your car in the parking lot and the battery's dead from the alarm going off every three minutes...

  • wow nice seats

  • @tsalam

now they run high 3s or low 4s but is because they run 1000ft instead of 400 meters which sucks :/

  • @AboveThaClouds651 Nice! That's what I like to hear. :)

  • @tsalam Lol You just gotta love anything that has 16 cylinders, a length of 73ft & a weight of 407,000 lbs (203.5 tons,) an 'understated' rating of 4,300hp, over 100,000lb/ft torque that can get a 15,000 ton (3 mil. lbs) train moving, and a 70:17 gear ratio capable of 70mph.. It's absolutely mind-boggling! Although it's about half the HP of a Top Fueler.. Lmao! Here's a video of the locomotive I'm talking about: the EMD SD70M. Turn your bass up & listen @ 0:38. youtube.com/watch?v=t_hFhTJQiMI

  • @AboveThaClouds651 Nice! Yes, the awesome pulse of any engines is, well - awesome! Thanks for the memories. :)
