The Best of Universeum in Gothenburg / Göteborg

We live in a knowledge-based society, and Universeum's mission is to encourage the natural desire which children and young people have to learn about the world around them.

We aim to stimulate their curiosity and get them asking questions, rather than to serve them up with ready-made answers.

Knowledge is something which is constantly developing and expanding and it is today's children and young people who will be making the new scientific discoveries in 20 years' time.

Society and industry are in great need of well-educated young people trained in natural sciences and technology. Without them we will be unable to create the products and services we will need to maintain our standard of life in a sustainable way in a world with limited resources.

To succeed in that aim, society needs many more young people to want to study natural sciences and technology and to work in those fields. Universeum is intended to support science education in such a way as to increase recruitment in the long term to universities, technical colleges and industry.

Active network
Universeum is to be more than that, however: it's designed as a forum where schools, industry and society at large can meet to exchange and develop new ideas and activities. Already we are working with an active network of information exchange between industry, the academic world and other bodies concerned with science and research.
