Shortly before noon February 14th the garbage truck that services the State Park and Marina caught fire! It was a small contained fire in the back that was promptly extinguished by the Black Gum fire department. The driver smelled something burning and that is when he stopped to investigate and the "blaze" was discovered. I am being overly dramatic because it was the biggest event in an otherwise ordinary day.

  • what was coming out of the back of the garbage truck at 3:33??

  • Over outfitted? Do you know what is in that truck? Neither does he. Could be spray cans, butane cylinders, all types of chemicals. I saw a whole bunch of PVC pipes in there. I don't want to breath that crap. Neither should they. Taxpayers paid for that gear, and I am glad to see them using it.

    Strong work BGFD

  • Too Funny. That firefighter was WAY over outfitted for that situation in my opinion. The guy was cleaning out the packer like he was at a landfil.
