LOL at 'the take'...
-
Mmmh,Sahara doesn't seem too happy about it this time...
Polly hate razors but today I surprized the kitty & performed what I call "the take" aka take the poor kitty like you did with Sahara but I used the brush on her belly and a bit of knot-cutter(that peculiar tool with cutting hooks, you know, don't know the English for it.) instead. As I said on twitter I only got a little bite. :) I guess that is only because she was new to "the take"...LOL.

What is the purpose of this cut? I'm confused.... and I sure would like to know the brand of that razor - I have a long very thick coat kitty and all the razors I have found burn out trying to shave him -

@eGoddess999 It's a Wahl ARCO, but it does take some *working* at mats. I still haven't found a razor that's easy to use. The purpose of the line cut is to shave or cut the fur short from the chest down the belly and between the legs where it knots up the worst and the cat is less likely to allow you to brush, but it preserves the rest of the coat. On a long haired cat, you can barely see a line cut so they still look nice and fluffy -- unless they are laying on their back.

ahaha - this is new to me. so it's just a line down her belly?

@P3RSIANSmeow Right! At least that's the way I think of it... but I saw a joke once showing a very nekked Persian, shaved to the skin everywhere but head, tail, feet and the owner is say "I asked for a liiiiiine cut NOT a lion cut." lol

why is it called a liiine cut? i mean - i realize it's a line cut... but why a line cut? if that makes a lot of sense... :)

@P3RSIANSmeow Your guess is as good as mine. My only recommendation is to enunciate VERY VERY clearly if you take a Persian to a groomer and want a line cut versus a lion cut ... :D
