Filmed 30/5/09. Whilst heading back from the Class 37 convention at the East Lancs I stumble across a couple of the older generation of photters, who tell me one of those kettles on wheels are coming through. Meh, had the camera with me so I thought, why not? Train home wasn't for another 35 minutes so lets phot this big metal thing!
I remember trainspotting on Wigan NW platform on many a Saturday in 1953/4 & wiping the cabside numbers clean with my coatsleeve of locos like this one, totally in awe as they stopped en route on the "B/ham - Glasgow". Sad or what ! - still we didn't have colour tv, pc's, videos & wii etc.
OOoogh the anticpation when the cry out then was "amber", "double amber"......... "green" .........."semi" - as the Royal Scot train thundered thro' headed by a pacific. - Happy days, Thanks for posting.
