Why are the bees dying? Why are honey bees disappearing from across the US? Well, Burt's Bees (http://www.burtsbees.com/) is raising awareness about an environmental issue called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) to find out and help save the dying bees. Colony Collapse Disorder is the sudden dying of bees causing the whole honey bee colony to collapse leading to widespread disappearance of bees from our environment.

While the exact causes for bee Colony Collapse Disorder are unknown, we do know that forces like habitat destruction, misuse of pesticides, invasive species and global warming create risks to honey bees. You can help make the planet a healthy place for bees. Sign up for a free packet of wildflower seeds to plant and give bees a healthy place to live in your neighborhood. We're also providing access to support local organic farmers who naturally create pesticide-free, bee-friendly environments while providing local communities with healthy fresh produce.

By saving the dying bees, we save a lot more than the bees. Be involved. For The Greater Good.

Please help to get this petition signed

Direct the EPA to ban the use of Neonicotinoid pesticides, until proven that it does not negatively impact honeybees.

It's the allowance of the spraying of certain pesticides that make bees unable to locate their colony. It's also genetically engineered deseases and GMO's. Yet these things are deemed "safe". Ghost!

Please see my post above. I've been a crop farmer (800 acres) for most of my life, and I can definitely say the bees are disappearing. I've talked to other farmers in my area and they confirm my observations. It seems to have started about the time that GM corn began to be widely planted in my area.

I am suspicious of what is called "BT" (borer tolerant) corn. It has a gene that produces a toxin against corn borers. If bees gather the pollen from BT corn, the toxin can be deadly to them.

I'm a farmer in Nebraska. Been farming for 35 years. There are lots of alfalfa fields out here, and when the alfalfa would bloom in June, there would be bees everywhere busily working on the blue and lavender alfalfa flowers.

This spring when my alfalfa bloomed, I walked through the field and couldn't find a single bee anywhere!

GM corn started to be widely planted about 10 years ago. It seems like the bee disappearance became noticeable almost the same time.
