This video is a series of desktop captures of playing Windows games inside a VirtualBox 3.0.2 VM hosted on a Ubuntu 9.04 desktop. The video shows the entire desktop with the games running fullscreen inside the VirtualBox VM console in the center. Although the game sound works great, I was unable to capture it so I created a music mix of a few popular songs for the sound track. Check out http://vmetc.com for the full blog post and some of the details on my configuration

  • quake 3 is openGL

  • Can't get an old game nobody knows about working....

    :/

  • @omgharajuku Windows XP is better for older games, just sayin'.

  • @omgharajuku You hate Windows because you're having problems running it on a VIRTUAL machine? That's not very fair.

  • @omgharajuku

    Use dosbox instead

  • Nice!!

But I am SOOOO pissed off right now!! I have a Mac and have Windows 7 running in Virtualbox, but it is so ridiculously complicated and tedious to get Warcraft 2 running. Seriously. All I want to do is play Warcraft 2!!

It has just made me hate Windows with even more of a burning passion! >><<<

  • Awesome I was wondering about Direct X games I knew Open GL games worked, no I can stick with just ubuntu and use windows as a virtual machine, thanks!
