Kid606 is more a LAPTOP MUSICIAN than a knob-twiddler.

The anti-knob twiddling thing is mostly an American phenomenon. Most people around the world don't have a problem with it. This is because, culturally, the US is about 40 years behind the rest of the world.

If this happened I think society wouldn't look much different, if your average consumer accepted experimental music it would fail to be experimental. If No wave became pop, a minority would then listen to the likes of pop today and then that would become the underground. If spoken word became a household thing with its billboard position, it would cease to hold its brilliance as it slowly became commercialised. I enjoy the underground being creative, less constraints mean more innovation.

Thats Digeridoo by Aphex Twin played faster with a sweet beat over it in the beginning.
i really like kid 606. why does he catch so much shit for being a knob twiddler? if a sound comes out of an electronic peice of equipment the same as an analog peice of equipment, what does it matter? tools are tools. its all soundscapes, no matter what is used. look at tom waits, bjork, brian eno, trent reznor, tricky, massive attack. all of these guys use an array of methods. you cant rule anything out. its all just noise.

oh and cant forget martin rev of suicide. noise experimentation rules. what if the average consumer accepted experimental music? what is no wave was pop? what would society look like? what if spoken word records were in the billboard top ten? if the residents sold multi millions of records world wide? i would live in such a world.
