@billysue2 well his master the one who gave him his JJ blackbelt Yuki Nakai was a well decorated Shooto champion that later trained BJJ . Shooto has a grappling base from catch which came from Gotch training the Japanese in the art of catch . Aoki in a interview was reminded of his catch roots by the interviewer while he was talking shit about how American wrestlers do great in MMA but are boring to watch because they go for a takedown , hold the position and punch till the ref stops it .

although Saku is a good grappler, he hasn't really competed in any grappling competitions. He has mostly done pro-wrestling and MMA.
