Ghandi - Trailer.

Gandhi is a 1982 biographical film about Mohandas Gandhi, who led the nonviolent resistance movement against British colonial rule in India during the first half of the 20th century. The film was directed by Richard Attenborough and stars Ben Kingsley as Gandhi; both won Academy Awards for their work on the film. The film won eight Academy Awards in total. The film premiered in New Delhi on November 30, 1982.

@agememnom True on all accounts. I lived there till 2001, have visited 6 times since I have hopes for a brighter future. India's problems I fear are too widespread though. It isn't a lost cause or anything but the people of India have a long and arduous road ahead to deal with the problems they have. The big 3 are corruption, population and literacy. If they can deal with those, India would be a great country.

Actually, India is becoming an emerging power with a fast growing economy and in addition is able to boast a fairly powerful military. Yes old post but it's been this way for a few years now, though they're rife with corruption.

@sonyaroxxx You mean to say, the government of India would stop being such a miserable failure. Yes, that would be nice. Perhaps they should start with addressing the population problem. Then corruption. Then illiteracy. Then resource management. I never wish the British would rule, because they were horrible and would be so again. I wish we the people actually enforce our interests upon the government. That concept doesn't exist in India...that is the root of all the problems India faces.

i really applaud gandhi and the movie as well. i am indian but i wish that maybe the british were still ruling in india but democratically and fairly because the state the country is in is tragic. so many poor living on the streets.
