  • Alkistis, I have never commented on one of these things before, but I loved this video. I got out of an extremely abusive relationship, both physical and emotional. It took a few years' perspective, but I can tell you with total certainty that these people act this way because 1.) they are miserable and 2.) we LET them. This isn't "blaming," per se, it just is. If you stand back and take a look at how you've allowed this person to victimize you, it won't happen again.

  • I have watched all of your videos, but I have to say this video speaks an especially powerful message. Lately, I've been trying to address that negative chatter in my mind. I will literally listen to my negative thoughts and think... WOW you're being way to hard on yourself...

  • How can I deal with emotional abuse?

  • Thanks for this video Alkistis,a lot of good advice at the end. I'm not entirely sure though if you can blame the victim for bringing on the abuse.

  • Thank you very much Alkistis. I watched both and truly appreciate you!! ;)

  • Your so right Alkistis.....some people have short noses, and some people have LONG noses...(almost like they are wearing a mask......)

  • Yeah listen to Alkistis.. SHE KNOWS HER SHIT!!

  • I agree,full of great information,and to the point.

  • One of your best videos alkistis!!!!

  • Opinions are like noses! Haha! I like that.

Anyway, your advice is so spot on, as always! I'm always working on selecting which things I take in and which I don't. The best advice I've ever received (aside from yours) is from an instructor of mine: "Don't own it!" Meaning, don't let your sense of self be altered by other people's negative opinions. Don't own it - their negative opinions are their own. If you don't mind, may I feature this on my homepage?

Can't wait for the next video! =)
