Rescued from a dusty old Beta Tape is "Mother Love" starring Diana Rigg. Winner of the 1990 British Academy Television Award for "Best Drama Series or Serial" it is here in its entirety as broadcast in the US as 2 double-length segments. In addition to Diana Rigg as Helena Vesey, other notable actors are James Wilby as Kit, Fiona Gillies as Angela, David McCallum as Sir Alex Vesey, and Isla Blair as Ruth Vesey. In this, Part 1 of Episode 1, we dive right into a flashback that Helena has from her childhood. She learned early that disloyalty and treachery cannot be tolerated, especially when her best friend lies about a birthday party Helena was not invited to. Then, in current time, Kit and Angela begin their life together in a difficult situation. This first part has some minor tracking issues that go away quickly and don't effect the storyline, but the rest of the series is clear and the audio is good.

Brilliant - same reaction as previous comment. Have been wanting to see this again for ages and it's every bit as gripping as the first time. Thank you misterkrusty!

Amazing piece of British Drama. Was on the edge of my seat through out the whole series. Chilled me to the bone. Diana Rigg was superb as the unhinged, smothering control freak of a mother. Wonderful Post.

At least this is on Youtube. Why this has not come out on DVD is beyond me.

OH happy DAY. You can't buy this. One of the formative series in my adolescence - my how we discussed this at school on Monday morning. And I had such a crush on David McCullum.

How wonderfully delicious! Though not yet sixty seconds in to this and not having a clue what it’s about, I'm already wide eyed with innate curiosity knowing somehow that that sweet little girl in who’s mouth butter could never ever possibly melt, is about to do something . . . truly . . . awfully . . . nasty, bless her little cotton socks and dimpled rosy cheeks! Sick I know, but isn’t that why we’re watching this, captivated by its promise of juicy wickedness? LOL. :o)o:
