Marki was diagnosed at the age of 16 with a rare but critical congenital heart defect " Anomalous Origin of the Right Coronary Artery". One of the leading causes of "Sudden Death". She had Open Heart Surgery to repair the artery. After four months with no activity and 8 weeks to the date after her OHS, she played with her high School team in their Conference Playoffs.
i had open-heart surgery 3 weeks ago, and i play soccer as well for my highschool but i am truely afraid of playing again, but if i don't play i will lose scholarships. wathcing this is motivating me to play again. and i'm currently a senior and i'm 16 years old.

I just had surgery last week for an anomalous RCA that was discovered when I had chest pain at my job as an ICU nurse. I am very fortunate as I played college volleyball and competitive soccer 20+ years ago and survived. I am 40 years old and happy to have a 2nd lease on life after this scare. I had cardiac symptoms at work and was rushed to our cath lab where the anomaly was found. Hope all is well with Marki!

It's definitely a very touching story, and I got teary eyed a few times. But I want to thank you very much for sharing this!! I hope her recovery is going even better than how she was doing at the beginning of 2009.

Wow, what an amazing story. I was looking up Open Hear surgeries on here and found the first video, and I had to watch this video to see how she was recovering.
It's great to see she is doing so well and it just makes me think about the conversation I had with someone about Health Care and how they thought health care was better every where else. This just shows how great our Health Care is. All the people who were there helping her and caring for her during her time in the hospital.
